INTRODUCTION

Throughout the five hebdomad seminar series there was a huge variety of projects presented to us on many different wellness factors in at onces society. It was targeted at the audience to try and eng come on them and repair them more aware of factors that affect and influence different communities approaches to health promotion. There were five health issues that were addressed and they were, Physical Health, Drugs and Health, versed Health, Social and Emotional Health and At Risk groups and Health. As stated in a study conducted in 1996 by the Australian Burden of Disease (ABD) mental health, physical inaction and excessive alcohol consumption were among the leading causes for burden of disease. Tideman, Pitts and Fairley (2004) lay down in their study that the most often presented complaint/ disturb was Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and the lack of knowledge on riskless sex practises and its importance to ones sexual health. For both these studies conducted there were at risk groups, with approximately health issues presenting to be more of a health issue amongst certain age brackets.



It is evident from studies done that amongst our society there are a select number of health issues that need to be given over more attention at a alliance direct to try and decrease the incidence of detrimental and in some cases life threatening illnesses. It is for this procedure that the seminar series had the aims of:
a)Demonstrating the underlying purpose of community approaches in health promotion
b)Recognise the importance of complaisant change within the community over time
c)Show practical(a) application in applying the principles of capacity building
d)Show understanding of how community based projects are developed
e)Understand the importance and correlativity between community organisation and community development with regards to health promotion.
